WHY GPS?
There is a current gap in gender, peace, and security research that is innovative, collaborative, and intersectional. Current approaches are not adequate in addressing the colonial structures which perpetuate the systemic racism and inequality that continue to undermine peace and security. Innovative solutions are needed to address the complex challenges of peacebuilding, gender equality, and social justice. Canada’s meaningful leadership in this arena requires investment in creative infrastructures that acknowledge systemic oppressions—especially within its own borders. To facilitate the required surge of ideas, vision, and strategic thinking, we propose the creation of a collaboratory: an open, creative space of innovation to foster partnerships amongst researchers, practitioners, policymakers, community activists, and Indigenous partners that can generate solutions. This diverse collaboration of interdisciplinary leaders has the goal of addressing the aforementioned gaps, by developing a comprehensive understanding of persistent, emerging, and as yet unaccounted-for challenges in the field of GPS.

POURQUOI LE GPS?
Il existe actuellement une lacune dans la recherche sur le genre, la paix et la sécurité qui est innovatrice, collaborative et intersectionnelle. Les approches actuelles ne sont pas suffisantes pour lutter contre les structures coloniales qui perpétuent le racisme et l'inégalité systémiques qui continuent de saper la paix et la sécurité. Des solutions innovantes sont nécessaires pour relever les défis complexes de la consolidation de la paix, de l'égalité des sexes et de la justice sociale. Afin que le Canada puisse jouer un rôle de premier plan dans ce domaine, il doit investir dans des infrastructures créatives qui reconnaissent les oppressions systémiques, en particulier à l'intérieur de ses propres frontières. Pour faciliter l'afflux d'idées, de visions et de réflexions stratégiques, nous proposons la création d'un collaboratoire : un espace d'innovation ouvert et créatif pour favoriser les partenariats entre chercheurs, praticiens, décideurs politiques, activistes communautaires et partenaires indigènes qui peuvent générer des solutions. Cette collaboration diversifiée de leaders interdisciplinaires vise à combler les lacunes susmentionnées, en développant une compréhension approfondie des défis persistants, émergents et inédits dans le domaine du GPS. ​
